The customer then performs a two-step aging cycle (1,325°F / 8 h, furnace cool to 1,150°F, hold 18 h, air cool) to develop AMS 5663 / AMS 5664 strength levels of approximately 185 ksi tensile and 150 ksi yield.

Every AMS 5662 order includes full mill certifications: heat number, lot number, chemical composition certifications, mechanical test reports, and melt-practice identification (typically VIM-VAR or VIM-ESR) traceable to the originating mill heat. Complete chain-of-custody documentation is provided from mill to your door.

AMS 5663 covers the same product forms in the precipitation-hardened (high-strength, fully-aged) condition. Most aerospace programs procure AMS 5662 material, machine to near-net shape, then age-harden per AMS 2774 to achieve the AMS 5663 strength profile.

Yes. Inconel 718 has good weldability and is welded by GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG), PAW (Plasma Arc), EBW (Electron Beam), and LBW (Laser Beam). AWS A5.14 ERNiFeCr-2 is the matching filler metal. All weldments require a post-weld solution anneal followed by the two-step aging cycle to restore mechanical properties in the weld heat-affected zone.
